Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani (BITS-Pilani) recently announced it has begun the implementation of open standards based Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise Applications to automate its academic and administrative functions.
With this software solution, the university will be able to offer a robust and scalable online, self-service interface for its 30000 students, faculty members and administrative staff.
BITS Pilani will integrate operations of all its campuses in India and abroad (Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad, Dubai) and will enable the university to integrate its student lifecycle academic, HR and finance functions of its existing legacy systems to the new generation PeopleSoft applications.
Managing BITS Pilani's student learning experience with IT
BITS Pilani serves a unique learning experience across its three tiers of education namely integrated first degree, higher degree and doctoral programmes. The institute offers unsurpassed flexibility such as dual degrees, transfer from one degree programme to another, choice of electives, repetition of courses etc.
In addition, the university offers a unique method of managing and scheduling classes, all of which consumes a considerable amount of time.
BITS Pilani offers 50 programmes across its four campuses.
Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise applications, including PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, PeopleSoft Financials, PeopleSoft HCM and PeopleSoft Global Payroll 9.1 will cover the complete student lifecycle and back office operations including human resources, payroll, inventory, purchase and asset management.

Once implemented, BITS Pilani will be able to integrate and centralize all its operations between all four campuses, resulting in the following benefits:
